News reaching us indicate that the musician asked the organisers to withdraw his name.

Earlier on this week, Musician Bebe Cool (real names Moses Ssali) requested organisers of local entertainment awards to never nominate him again."I have decided to officially ask all organising committees of any music competition/awards in Uganda to exclude my name in any nomination in Uganda," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

His statement came before the announcement of the Club Music Video Awards (CMVAs) nominations shortlist. News reaching us indicate that the musician asked the organisers to withdraw his name.

In a statement the organisers, Club Pilsener confirmed that the Kabulengane hit-maker had officially been withdrawn from the Viral Video and Choreography categories in which he was nominated as he (Bebe Cool) requested.

"The categories will maintain the three entries selected," the statement read in part, adding, "This will in no way affect our brand promise to support the local music industry and we thank and congratulate all the nominees."

According to the organisers, the criteria for the awards starts with an artist submitting their videos. Bebe made his decision of ‘never to be nominated again in local awards' this week, just a day away from the announcement of the shortlist. It is likely, therefore, that Bebe Cool had submitted his work before his decision which came after the controversy that followed Hipipo Music Awards.

After he dominated the Hipipo awards for three years in a row, speculations in the public alleged that he had a hand in them.

In their second edition, the CMVAs have 15 categories. The award ceremony will take place on March 18, 2016 at Serena Hotel Kampala.
