Court declares Kamuli Municipality MP seat vacant

A panel of three justices: Richard Buteera, Barishaki Cheborion and Paul Mugamba ruled that Watongola did not possess the required minimum academic papers equivalent of senior six at the time she was nominated to contest for the elections.

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday threw out of Parliament Kamuli Municipality MP Rehema Tiwuwe Watongola.

FDC's Salamu Musumba challenged Wantogola's victory in court on grounds that she did not possess the required academic papers.

A panel of three justices: Richard Buteera, Barishaki Cheborion and Paul Mugamba ruled that Watongola did not possess the required minimum academic papers equivalent of senior six at the time she was nominated to contest for the elections.

The court has since declared Kamuli Municipality seat vacant and ordered for fresh elections.
