The Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Maj. Kakooza Mutale, has said a team should be established to investigate the operations of Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), so that several issues affecting the body are sorted out.

"I will soon meet trade minister Amelia Kyambadde and present her a paper about several issues affecting Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the way forward," he said.

"In 1978, I was the advisor the then UNCCI and things worked out well. Why doesn't the Chamber establish a group of elders, especially those that previously worked in the body to help them," he said.

Speaking to journalists during a press conference at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala on Thursday morning, Mutale said the major problem facing UNCCI is politics adding that this has made it stray from its main objective and urged the body to bring more actors on board.

He said business people such as transporters, clearers, institutions and associations could assist the chamber cause growth in trade. He said this will help sort out issues affecting traders such as price fluctuations and taxation.

"They talk about politics instead of business” he said.

Mutale also said the said the current leaders in the UNCCI are unconstitutional because their terms expired.
