Pastel hues, a must have

Jan 13, 2017

Pastels hues are colours that have high value and low intermediate saturation. They are often referred to as soothing, soft, neutral, milky, washed out, desaturated, or lacking strong chromic content.

Bold hues are still in style, but what is more in style lately is the pastel hues. If you have not yet embraced the trend, it is high time you did.

I am very certain that you could have two or more pieces of clothing; tops, skirt, blouse, trousers, jacket, shoes and more in pastel shades hiding somewhere in your closet.

However, if you do not have any yet, start with just one look- go out and buy one.

Pastels hues are colours that have high value and low intermediate saturation. They are often  referred to as soothing, soft, neutral, milky, washed out, desaturated, or lacking strong chromic content.

Fashion stylist Samuel Kato says one can now wear pastels alone without throwing in a ray of bold hues.   Kato gives a guide on how to wear pastels to achieve your desired look.

How to Wear Pastels

One colour

This means wearing separates of one colour, the texture could be different though, but with similar shades. Hues that fall in this category include; all black, all white, all metallic, different shades of black and white, and more. You can even wear a top or skirt with print details like the polka dots, stripes and more, but of the same colour.

Mix-match

You can mix match separates of different shades of pastels. You can go for black and white, grey and white, brown and black, lavender and sky blue, or other colours as you may see fit. You can also wear prints of different shades in polka dots, and stripes and more

Accessorize

Are you thinking that the whole idea of wearing pastels alone or just mix and matching is too much for you? There is a way out, try accessorizing. You can decide to wear shoes, jewelry, bag, hat, earrings and more in pastels colours.
