Court stops BOU from building centre in Masaka

In his ruling, Rwatooro said that the order will stay in force until March 21, 2017, when the main case will be determined.

The High Court in Masaka has issued an interim order stopping Bank of Uganda from building a currency centre at the districts golf course.

"An interim order is hereby issued restraining the defendants, their servants, agents, employees and any other person claiming under them from any further activity or development on the Masaka golf Course land," reads part of the order.

It was issued on Wednesday by the court's deputy registrar, Baker Rwatooro, following an application filed by Charles Kasibante, Charles Ziwa and the Uganda Golf Union, challenging the move by BOU to build a currency centre on the land reserved for golf sporting activities.

In his ruling, Rwatooro said that the order will stay in force until March 21, 2017, when the main case will be determined.

The case is against BOU, Masaka district land board, the registrar of titles, CRJE ( East Africa), and Laston hotel.

It was filed through Jude Mbabali.
