EASTERN UGANDA - A 72-year-old man was found beheaded early Sunday in a remote village in Pallisa district.

Paulo Bakanda's head was found two meters away from his body in Apokor village, Gogonyo sub-county.

It is understood that he had been involved in a land dispute with the family of a one Awali Sirigye, who handed himself over to police and reportedly confessed to killing the elderly man.

District police commander Mathias Turyasingura said it was unfortunate for Sirigye to commit the offence yet he knew that their case was still ongoing.

He said Resident District Commissioner John Watenyeli Nabende had met with the warring families because even the land in dispute was a wetland.

Turyasingura said police was going to expedite the investigation and have the file sanctioned for prosecution.
