An opposition leader, the Erute North MP, Charles Angiro Gutumoi of FDC has lauded President Yoweri Museveni for compensating people who lost their livestock during LRA insurgencies.

Angiro said compensation of animals lost during the two-decade insurgency in Lango and northern Uganda is one of Museveni and NRM's best achievements.

The Lord`s Resistance Army (LRA) war forced thousands of people into internally displaced people`s camps. Dozens were killed.

Briefing journalists at Pacific hotel in Lira municipality on Tuesday, Angiro urged the beneficiaries to restock the animal lost and avoid spending the money in unproductive venture.

"People should use the money to restock the animals that were stolen instead of spending on buying clothes, meat and alcohol," he advised.

Over 4,000 people led by former LC3 of Central division-Lira, Moses Ocip dragged government to court over their livestock stolen or eaten by different rebels at a time they were in wanting condition.

The case was then settled out of court and the government agreed to compensate the claimants about sh50b.

A cow was valued at sh600, 000, a goat/sheep sh160,000 while a pig valued at sh250, 000.
