Over 30 accident, assault victims admitted at Mulago on Christmas

Speaking to New Vision in an interview the hospital's spokesperson Enock Kusasira said, about twenty five people sustained accident injuries while thirteen people were assaulted.

Over 30 people were assaulted while others were involved in road accidents during Christmas celebrations. The victims are currently admitted at Mulago National Referral hospital for specialised care.

Speaking to New Vision in an interview, the hospital's spokesperson, Enock Kusasira said, about 25 people sustained accident injuries while thirteen people were assaulted. The incidents took place in different parts of country.

A nurse at the ward said, some of the victims were involved in hit and run accidents as they were returning home from entertainment places.

New Vision interviewed some of the victims at the hospital's Emergency and accident ward. Steven Kanyangira a resident of Kyengera was knocked down by a speeding taxi at Busega round about. He was heading to his place of residence.

He sustained a fractured leg and a deep wound on the head.

Allan Ajjampa, 30, is another victim. He was involved in a motor accident as he was crossing the road in Kajjansi while talking on phone.

He was nursing broken leg. He said the incident took place at 10.00 on Christmas and police patrol rushed him to Mulago for treatment. 'At the moment I have no relative to take care of me and yet I need someone to nurse my wounds, 'Ajjampa.

Michael Ssewankambo a boda boda rider, a resident of Kijjebejja Kito Nakaseke knocked a one year old child and he also sustained injuries. He said the child was playing in the middle of the road with others.
