Ibanda man kills a wife over 10,000

Police in Ibanda are holding a 37-year-old resident of Kashangura Kagongo for apparently killing his wife over sh10,000.

Posiano Kakama reportedly murdered her for misusing the money.

Ibanda district police commander Dennis Ochama confirmed the incident and said the suspect was taken into police custody pending investigations.

The police account is that Kakama and 34-year-old Mary Ninsiima picked up a fight after the woman allegedly failed to use the money for the intended purpose.

It was not immediately clear what the money was initially for and how the suspect caused the death of his lover.

But what is known is that she died upon arrival at Kagongo Hospital where she had been rushed to after the melee.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Kakama regretted the incident, saying he had not intended to kill his wife because he loved her so much.

The couple had four children together.

RDC Eliasto Akatuheebwa said domestic violence in the district is on the rise and is attributed to high alcohol consumption rates and infidelity suspicion.

For now, Kakama is still in detention and is due to appear in court to answer murder charges once the police complete investigations.
