“Ugandans are with you. We know how much this will impact on Brazilian football."

KAMPALA - The president of Uganda's football governing body FUFA has joined the rest of the football world to pay respects to Brazilian club Chapecoense that lost almost all their players in a plane crash.

The chartered British Aerospace 146 aircraft crashed in the remote mountains of Colombia en route to a major cup final, killing 71 out of 77 people on board.

Three players survived the tragedy that has shaken the world.

In his message delivered to the Brazilian Football Federation, FUFA president Eng Moses Magogo (pictured top) said "tough times call for togetherness".

"Ugandans are with you. We know how much this will impact on Brazilian football and those who lost their loved ones in the airplane crash," read the condolence message.

"We are aware there are some players and other people who survived. We pray to the Almighty for a quick recovery."

Tributes have continued to flow for the dead and survivors.

Brazil and Barcelona star Neymar wrote: "Today the world cries, but Heaven rejoices in receiving champions. My feelings to all family and friends."

His Argentine teammate Lionel Messi was also among many others who paid their respects: "My deepest condolences go to all of the families, friends and supporters of the Chapecoense squad."

It is understood that some Brazilian clubs have offered to loan players to Chapecoense without any fees so they could continue as a club.
