Nsubuga nominated for referee of year award

He is among 22 Ugandan match officials considered for a 2016/2017 FIFA badge.

Ugandan FIFA center referee Brian Nsubuga has been nominated for the referee of the year award ahead of the Airtel FUFA Awards that will be held this Friday at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Nsubuga who has done a commendable job in terms of officiating within and outside Uganda, is part of the list of 22 Ugandan match officials that were considered for 2016/2017 FIFA badges.

He vies for the award with fellow FIFA referees including Mark Ssonko and Ivan Kintu Bayige who officiates beach soccer. Assistant referee Ssonko won the accolade last year.

Kintu, who is one of the new referees in the country, will also represent Uganda at the 2nd edition of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Nigeria due from December 13 to 18.

Meanwhile, Denis Onyango, Farouk Miya, Joseph Ochaya, Muhammad Shaban and Erisa Sekisambu will compete for the Male Player of the Year.
