Kazinda's trial of over sh21b loss deferred

Justice Margaret Tibulya on Monday postponed the hearing after State attorney Tom Walugembe told court that prosecution witnesses he had summoned were not available to give evidence.

The Anti- Corruption Court has deferred the trial of the jailed former principal accountant in the Prime Minister's Office (OPM) over sh21b loss to December 20, 22 and 29 for hearing.
Justice Margaret Tibulya on Monday postponed the hearing after State attorney Tom Walugembe told court that prosecution witnesses he had summoned were not available to give evidence.
Tibulya advised both the prosecution and defence lawyers to make an effort to ensure the case is concluded within stipulated time frame.
Kazinda and three former officials of ministry of finance are accused of diverting sh21b, from Office of the Prime Minister.
Kazinda, and three co- accused Wilbert Okello principal system analyst,David Mugisha senior economist and Bright Atwine, a senior accountant all former officials from ministry of finance are charged with diverting funds intended for the Peace Recovery and Development Plan for Northern Uganda. They denied the charges.
Prosecution led by senior principal state attorney Vincent Wagona and senior state attorney Tom Walugembe said the three officials from Ministry of Finance together with Kazinda, between November 2011 and April2012 in Kampala respectively diverted funds meant for peace recovery.
