UCU leads the best-of-seven series 2-0

National Basketball League Playoffs

Women: UCU 53 KCCA 50 (UCU leads the series 2-0)

KCCA's tight defence was not enough to stop the UCU Lady Canons on Wednesday evening in game 2 of the National Basketball League playoff finals at YMCA.

KCCA was in control in three straight quarters of the game but this didn't stop the vibrant defending champions from snatching a second win in the NBL best-of-seven series when the wheels came off in the third quarter.

"We beat ourselves before the opponents beat us when we lost control of the game in the last quarter" KCCA's coach Timothy Odeke commented.

"The players had a nervous wreck, and also lost out on the free throws" he added.

KCCA now face the unenviable task of winning the next two games of the finals to stand a chance of claiming this year's title.

"I am going to stress these issues in our trainings to ensure that these mistakes don't happen again. Otherwise after these little issues are put out of the way I believe we shall be good to go" he added.

Ritah Imanishimwe and Judith Nansobya nailed a game high 18 and 13 points respectively for the Mukono based side.

Maureen Amonding and Martha Soigi contributed 17 and 14 points apiece for the Leopards.
