Kilimall Uganda, an online shopping site has partnered with global mobile phone manufacturer, Infinix Mobile to launch Infinix Note 3 and Hot 4 on the Ugandan market on Black Friday 25th, November 2016.

Black Friday is celebrated around the world in the US, Canada, France, UK, India and Mexico among others. This year's Black Friday celebrations in Uganda are being held under the tag line #ItsABigDeal.

Black Friday is held at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Most major retailers open very early and offer promotional sales at the lowest prices to eager shoppers.

Speaking at the Laughterz Pub at the Centary Park, Kampala, Carter Tang, the Infinix director for East Africa noted that the company will offer the Infinix Note 3 and Hot 4 to Ugandans for less than sh530,000 and sh370,000 respectively on Kilimall only.

Wang noted that selling the smart phones through online Kilimall and not through a network of physical distribution stores will cut out additional costs and deliver the product at a much cheaper price for the end user.

Chengyang Wang, the Kilimall Uganda Managing Director noted that in addition to the Infinix smart phones, the online shopping site will also be selling fashion and beauty products at discounts of between 30% and 90%.

"After this day (Black Friday), prices will go back to normal. We will deliver all products purchased to customers around the country. We have already delivered products to some remote places like in the Kalangala Islands," Wang said.

Online shopping is fast gaining momentum in Uganda especially among millennials because of the convenience that has been propelled by the reducing costs of data, growing internet penetration and smart phone affordability.

Ugandans can now access the internet for as little as sh300.

According to Uganda Communications Commission, Uganda currently has in excess of 13 million internet users with an internet penetration rate of over 38% in 2016 compared to fewer than 350,000 users in the year 2000.
