Impis will be great again - Kasasa

The 1996 league champions have been struggling for the past six years

Makerere Impis Rugby Club coach Yayiro Kasasa is optimistic his club will regain its past glory in two seasons' time.

Kasasa who saw his side beat Gulu Elephants 17-7 in the National Rugby League on Saturday said the win is an indicator that his boys are in line with the structures he is trying to set up at the club.

The 1996 league champions have been struggling for the past six years surviving relegation in 2013 and 2014 seasons.

The win over Gulu was their first of the season in three games after falling 27-8 to Pirates and 53-5 to Heathens.

"We set a target this season to defeat Gulu, Rams, Buffaloes, and Warriors, give headache to Sadolin Mongers and we are going to do it," Kasasa stated.

"I'm going to focus on building structures and once we achieve 70 percent then we shall be in position to give top clubs like Heathens and Kobs a run for their money just as it was in the 90s" Kasasa explained.

Kasasa is a former national 15s and 7s coach.
