Officials from the engineering and health department are reportedly part of the group.

Ngora district council has resolved to punish public officers who misuse public vehicles in the district.

This follows reports indicating that most of the public officers misuse public vehicles in a manner which is not recommended. They include those in the engineering and health department.

The district councillor for Ngora sub-county, John Michael Ikilai says that the officers are accused of using the district vehicles for their personal gains.

Ikilai says that reports also indicate that the officers use the vehicles for going to drinking places, something he strongly condemns.

The council now cautions public officers to desist from the act, warning that whoever is found will be punished.

Ngora deputy CAO, Andrew Chelangat says that his office is going to look into the matter and take appropriate action against such public officials.

According to the standing orders of the Local Government Act, all public vehicles should be packed by 5:00pm after normal daily business.
