Supreme Mufiti calls for agriculture promotion

The mufti said Uganda has a good environment which favors agriculture and so Ugandans should make good use of it.

Supreme Mufti Sheihk Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa has called upon local and religious leaders to encourage their people to fully engage in agriculture practices if they are to fight poverty.

This was in his message delivered at the Mityana district headquarters on Thursday as he started his tour to Mityana and Mubende districts this morning.

The mufti said Uganda has a good environment which favors agriculture and so Ugandans should make good use of it.

"I have traveled to many countries but the situation there is not good. They get long drought seasons, but they are engaging in commercial farming better those here," he said.

Ndirangwa commended the government for the proggrammes to support Ugandans benefit from agriculture and asked Ugandans to utilize them.

He further asked Muslims to avoid misunderstandings and differences among themselves but to live together as brothers and sisters.

He said the Islamic faith in Uganda is currently divided but can be united if the complaint they have is addressed.

He asked Muslim leaders to remain faithful and good servants. "As leaders, we have to maintain the faith's properties and ensure that we acquire more," he said.

He gave an example of the Catholic Church which he said has good building in the centre of Kampala and other towns, saying that even Muslims should have similar properties


At Mityana he met district political leaders, religious leaders and officials from other institutions like Organizations.


At Mityana he was welcomed by the district LC5 chairperson Joseph Luzigeand other political leaders.
