Pupils from two branches of Bridge International Academies in Tororo district on Monday broke into tears after authorities closed the schools.

The sobbing pupils also asked the Government to help their parents recover fees so that they can relocate to other schools.

The two branches are located in Malaba Town Council and Rubongi sub-county.

The pupils who said they were uncertain of their next destination made their plea before a team of officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports who were led by the district education officer, Yona Gamusi Doya.

Maurine Abeja, a primary six pupil at the Rubongi wing, said whereas the Government has taken a decision to close the school due to the identified anomalies, their fate remains unknown because they are not sure if the school will refund the already paid fees to enable them join other recognised schools.

Doya, however, apologised to the pupils over the closure of the schools.

He asked the pupils to tell their parents to go and demand for reimbursement of their fees and in case the schools fail to comply, the Government will come in to help them.

He challenged the pupils to tell their parents to take them to schools, which have and cover the curriculum and have qualified teachers.

He assured that they will be absorbed in the nearby schools so that they can sit their third term examinations.
