Kampala Regional League: Future Stars 1 Kyebando 1

Nov 10, 2016

Two second-half goals ensured both sides bagged a point.

A winner could not be found as Kyebando United shared the spoils with Future Stars FC in the Kampala Regional League.

Hamidu Maweje scored for the home side before Hamidu Sserumaga's equalizer later on in a game that saw out a joyless first half.

Neither side appeared to have flavor and comfort on the ball.

In fact, the visitors failed to make five complete consecutive passes and ended the opening half with no effort on goal.

The hosts, too, seemed to play on a neutral ground, failing to claim the advantage that comes with playing on home turf.

But an intense half-time pep talk (below) seemed to have awoken Future Stars as they returned strongly, having introduced Maweje.

It was a much changed side as they fashioned a series of attacks that kept Kyebando on tenterhooks.

Twenty minutes into the second half, the hosts found the breakthrough when Maweje escaped the attentions of his minder to loop the ball over goalkeeper Ben Ssesazi.

That goal got Kyebando up and running, dramatically turning into a much brighter outfit. They attacked and pressed for a leveler.

Substitute Jamal Oman nearly found it with his first touch but his glancing header floated wide.

Traffic flowed to and fro as another goal seemed ever likely at a time when the visitor's attacker Arnold Sembuya failed to beat the keeper.

One minute to the final whistle, Sserumaga struck to secure a point for the visitors.

That result meant that Future Stars has 11 points while Kyebando is on seven points in the six games played so far.
