Toro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Rukidi IV on Saturday visited farmers in Gulu district as a way of encouraging youth to do farming.

Oyo was flanked by his ministers and a group of youth who came for a study tour. Robert Kabushenga, the Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, who accompanied the king, challenged the youth to embrace farming to fight poverty.

King Oyo visited Tony Kidega's farm in Gulu district. Kidega was the 2015 best farmers' winner.

He also visited Daniel Kidega, the  Speaker of the East African Assembly. Kidega grows matooke and has five cares. According to Kidega, he grew matooke to demisfy the belief that matooke was a crop of only southern, central and eastern Uganda. His five-care farm has become a demonstration farm for farmers in Gulu and surrounding areas.
