Ivan Thawithemwira scored an unbeaten 55 and Henry Senyondo added 36 as the Challengers rallied to a two-wicket win over KICC in the final of the 2016 UCA National T20 Cup Sunday at Lugogo.

Chasing 142 to win, the Challengers were 40/5 inside eight overs after some fruitful work by Kenyan pace Elijah Otienno (3/27) for KICC. But the Challengers' skipper and Senyondo erected a 72-run partnership that turned the game around.

The Challengers, who also won the 2014 T20 championship, hailed their unity for their success.

"Our strength this season has been our team spirit," explained Challengers opener Hamu Kayondo, who scored 17 in the final before being bowled by Otienno inside the third over.

Irfan Afridi, John Tumusiime and Morris Ouma scored 51, 30 and 22 runs respectively for KICC, who were guilty of multiple errors in the field.

"Our fielding has been poor the whole season and cost us today again," lamented KICC captain Hamumant Katkar. Eshan Sohaib took a game-best 4/32 for the Challengers.
