A section of Uganda People`s Congress (UPC) members under the Jimmy Akena faction has described Joseph Bbosa drumming up support to be elected party President in December as a serious joker and fighting to kill the party.

They said Akena is the substantially elected party President by majority of the delegates and they are loyal to him.

In a meeting on Saturday at Lira valley resort hotel in Lira municipality, the party`s chairpersons vowed to boycott the election and disowned Bbosa.

"Bbosa is a joker and doesn't feel ashamed to parade himself as the acting UPC party president yet the National Council of the party didn't approve him," said Henry Omara, the head of media in Lango sub region.

"We cannot allow this mess to continue in the party, we know Akena as the party President and any election being organized by Bbosa, we shall not honor and will not be part of it," said in a meeting chaired by David Ojok Julu, chairperson UPC of Apac.

Two weeks ago Bbosa met another faction of the party led by Dan Okello who claimed is the district UPC chairperson and advised members to vote him to lead the party.

Julius Peter Ocari claimed he was openly voted with the majority as the party chairperson for Lira district and Okello is an imposter.

Ocari said article 14 of the party gives power to the party President to appoint and disappoint a member of the party who becomes a fugitive and doesn't want to follow the party`s constitution.

The eight party chairpersons applauded the cooperation between President Yoweri Museveni and UPC party in the February election.

"We want to commend the cooperation because it has enabled us to have a peaceful election unlike in the past," said Richard Ocet, the party vice chair of Dokolo.
