“Fornication and adultery have destroyed the holy sacrament of marriage, more so in our Catholic Church..."
The Bishop Emeritus of Lugazi Catholic diocese, Dr. Mathias Ssekamanya has asked married couples to stop committing adultery. The prelate also called upon all religious leaders to preach more on the dangers of adultery and fornication.
“Fornication and adultery have destroyed the holy sacrament of marriage, more so in our Catholic Church. Most of our people are poor because much money is spent on buying drugs, mainly for the sexually transmitted diseases. Let us therefore commit ourselves to fighting these two evils. We should also pray hard that the two evils don’t escalate,” Ssekamaanya said.
He was presiding over mass for the Catholic feast of St. Francis at St. Francis Catholic Church, Nyenga, Lugazi diocese.
The Prelate further cautioned politicians who are supporting adultery to stop it.
He also cautioned Members of Parliament who spend time in bars instead of grooming their children.
On the same occasion, Bishop Ssekamanya wedded 49 couples. He also confirmed 139 children into the Catholic faith.
