Lweza fined for crowd trouble

The organisers went ahead to warn Lweza of their fans' future conduct

The Uganda Premier League has fined Lweza sh300,000 after the club's fans were involved in crowd trouble during a league game against Police.

"According to the referee's match report and witness from persons of authority for Azam Uganda Premier League match 60 Proline FC Vs Lweza FC that was played on Saturday 1/10/2016 at P. Omondi Stadium, Lugogo indicate Lweza FC fans threw stones on the field of play which resulted into the match being halted for about five minutes" a league statement read.

"Pursuant to Article 33(2) (b) of FUFA Competitions rules, Lweza FC has been given a monetary fine of sh300,000 which should be paid before their next fixture" the statement added.

The organisers went ahead to warn Lweza FC that should their fans engage in the acts of violence and hooliganism again, more stringent penalties will be applied.
