According to the UPL chief executive Bernard Bainamani, Express FC fans attacked an assistant referee during their 1-1 draw with Kirinya Jinja.

"Management of Express FC should ensure that no spectators/fans are allowed in stadium for the next home fixture. Only match crew should be allowed to access the stadium. Security in and around the stadium should be ensured. The Secretariat will not hesitate to come out with more stringent measures should the club fail to comply with the directive," Bainamani said.

Express FC acting CEO Hamza Jjunju acknowledged the fine and said that the club was negotiating with UPL to have them allow in fans.

"We are working on the fine but we are also talking to them to allow us let in fans because our prospective sponsor will be unveiled that day. We had already chosen our next home game to unveil the sponsor and it will not be good for us," Jjunju said.

However, Express FC has vowed to punish the fans who caused trouble.
