Ndejje 18th graduation set for Friday

Over 2,800 students both nationals and internationals; are scheduled to graduate.

First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataaha Museveni is expected to grace Ndejje University's 18th graduation ceremony slated for this Friday at its Luwero-based main campus.

Over 2,800 students - both nationals and internationals - are scheduled to graduate with certificates, degrees, diplomas and masters in various fields.

The graduation is organised under the theme; "Enhancing Quality Assurance in a changing Higher Education Platform".

"It will be a historical moment for Ndejje University to have the First Lady to preside over our graduation ceremony," said university publicist Collins Ssemanda.

"She expressed her willingness to come and we are so grateful."

Chancellor Dr. Kisamba Mugerwa will preside over the awarding of degrees and diplomas to the graduates. It will be his second time to officiate in that capacity upon assuming the honorary office last year.

The institution's graduation number has continued to rise since 2012. A total of 1,422 students were churned out in that year followed by 1,940 in 2013, 2,442 in 2014 and 2,482 in 2015.

The university has made great strides since the previous graduation in terms of passing out quality graduates in the fields of research, innovation and sports excellence.

The good and attractive academic programs and research undertakings among other factors has earned Ndejje University the 2nd best university in Uganda and 42nd position in Africa ranking by the 4th International Colleges and Universities Ranking.

Meanwhile, an exhibition in the field of research and innovation will take place during the graduation.

The exhibition will highlight robotics and development of renewable energies particularly in the production of the wonder Ndejje Briquettes.
