Amado wins Miss UCC Soroti 2016

Amado said she will use her position to better the society, by ensuring that students fight against alcohol and drug consumption in schools and community; ensure that the teenage marriages are discouraged

Innocent Amado, 20 a first year student studying diploma in Business Administration walked away on Friday night with a coveted prize of miss Uganda College of Commerce (UCC) Soroti 2016. There were five rounds of competition where the contestants did individual talent performances and a question and answer segment.

The function held at the school's main hall was presided over by the following judges: Patrick Oluk, Bob Owiny, and Lillian Aguti.Amado who likes modeling, reading and dancing, beat Mary Teddy, the only contestant she was contesting with, who later was crowned the first runner up. Amado said she will use her position to better the society, by ensuring that students fight against alcohol and drug consumption in schools and community; ensure that the teenage marriages are discouraged."I'm humbled for winning this tittle, and I want to assure my colleagues that I will do my best to ensure that their voices are heard both at school and outside," Amado said.
 

Meanwhile, Rogers Waiswa, 20 also Business Adminstration student was crowned Mr. UCC Soroti 2016, after he beat Jimmy Wanyama-a procurement student.This year, UCC Soroti registered, low number of contestants, something that Julius Benzilus attributed to failure by some students to meet the requirements.

"Each of the participants was required to have cultural, sports, beach, office and creative attire, but most students failed to get them, and that's why they did not register," said Benzilus.

Benzilus appealed to the students to work with their Miss and Mr UCC so that the student's voices are heard.

 

The show slated to start at 9:00pm lasted for hours, the judges who seemed exhausted to the extent that they almost failed to tabulate results and declare the winner.
