Ngirabakunzi noted that although government introduced Universal Primary Education (UPE), there has been a challenge of disability inclusion because the PWDs are not properly catered for.

People with Disability (PWDs) have urged government to establish disability financing to help bridge service delivery for PWDs. The PWDs observe that many government projects do not have disability inclusion which promotes stigma.

This message was delivered by Edson Ngirabakunzi, the Executive Director at National Union of disabled persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) during a press conference held at the Kisaasi headquarter offices, Kampala

Ngirabakunzi noted that although government introduced Universal Primary Education (UPE), there has been a challenge of disability inclusion because the PWDs are not properly catered for.

"Even at the level of government grants PWDs have not benefitted to expectations. To bridge this gap, we call upon government to establish disability financing which will address the gaps of mainstream service delivery to enable PWDs also engage in productive business," explained Ngirabakunzi

Statistics available at NUDIPU indicate that Uganda has about 5 million PWDs in the different forms.

Emmanuel Okong, a PWD business instructor said there is need for increased specialized training for PWDs to increase their involvement.

Okong said "if we all rally behind these PWDs and support them fully embrace different business projects, they will undoubtedly contribute to business growth."
