Oct 04, 2016

It has transferred all the money to the respective accounting officers

The Ministry of Finance has assured all the non-teaching staff of public universities that their salary arears amounting to sh28b shall be paid within the next quarter of 2016/17 financial year.

In August, non-teaching staff of all public universities agreed to call off their sit down strike after receiving a confirmation from President Yoweri Museveni that their money shall be cleared in the second quarter.

The spokesperson of Ministry of Finance Jim Mugunga said they have transferred all the money to the respective accounting officers and before the end of October, their arrears shall be included in their salaries.

"They are now with the CAOs, accounting officers and permanent secretaries in the respective districts so the issue of the Finace Ministry not releasing money doesn't arise" Mugunga said.
