Robert Kabushenga, the Vision Group managing director has revealed that business people are to learn more about taxes levied on their entities in the upcoming entrepreneurial forum, ‘Yiiya Ssente' due to partnership with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

The fourth Yiiya Ssente Business Forum which is organized by Bukedde, a product of Vision Group is to empower Ugandans about job and wealth creation.

While speaking at the Vision Group offices, URA assistant commissioner for compliance management in the domestic taxes department, Silajji Kanyesigye, said that business men will be taught on how to get tax exemptions, how to minimize taxes and how to acquire flat taxes for low income earning businesses.

"We are going to sensitize business people on the profits of owning TIN numbers, how to get exemptions and reduce on taxes paid on their businesses," said Kanyesigye.

According to the assistant commissioner public and corporate affairs, Sarah Birungi, the forum is a good opportunity to interact with the public and know what affects their tax payments.

She said, "This is a good platform to know the difficulties faced by business people in payment of taxes."

The one day entrepreneurial forum slated to take place at Freedom City in Namasuba along Entebbe Road on 15th October will be occasioned by the URA commissioner general Doris Akol as the chief speaker.

Other guest speakers will be Charles Kabugu also from URA, Nuulu Mpungu a renowned businesswoman and Robert Ssemwanga a veterinary doctor.

"This time round the forum is going to be bigger and better with partnership with URA and knowledge of taxation that will be provided" Kabushenga emphasized

Besides tax exemptions, the URA will make its plans known to the business community meant to simplify tax payments and revenue services.

Among these is URA's collaboration with all local governments to bring services closer to the people, creating one stop shops all over the country where people can get all revenue services in one place without travelling to the main offices.
