The Speaker said buses take workers to Buganda at the end of the day

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has said that her Busoga region has been isolated in sharing the benefits of Isamba Power Dam construction.

While meeting the Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali at Parliament today, Kadaga complained that whereas it had been planned that Buganda and Busoga would share equally in terms of jobs and project buildings, everything has gone to Buganda.

"I went there and realized Busoga has been left out. In the evening when buses are taking workers home, they head towards Buganda. I have written to the energy minister requesting for a census of project workers" she argued.

At the commissioning of Isimba Dam construction in October 2013, Wang Yu, the president CWE Company which is implementing the project, promised that his firm would train Ugandan engineers in civil dam construction, hydrology and electrical engineering in the course of constructing the 183MW dam.
