Pioneer 159 KICC 53 (Pioneer win by 106 runs)

KICC will harp on about how the departure of their former skipper Gertrude Chandiru and Naomi Kayondo has had a negative impact on their performance this season.

The two refined players moved to Tornado Bee at the start of the season and what they left behind is a team that is struggling to perform and firmly rooted in the fight against relegation.

Currently on 11 points and second from bottom, Scovia Akello and co have three games left but having won just two out of seven games, there is not a lot expected from their remaining fixtures.

On Saturday the defending champions Pioneer beat them by 106 runs at the Entebbe Lakeside Oval.

It was an opportunity for KICC to avenge a 123 run loss in the first round but they failed to fire.

Abel Queentor, the 19-year-old Kenyan all-rounder scored 31 runs from 33 balls but it was the experienced Carol Namugenyi who caused more damage to KICC.

She scored 23 runs off 29 balls in Pioneer's first innings after winning the toss and opting to bat.

"We have gone against the odds to climb to where we are following a poor start to the season. We are really recharged and feel there is a lot to deliver after beating KICC" said Namugenyi.

Namugenyi struck with the ball too with figures of 4/15 in 6.4 overs. Daisy Wairimu also impressed claiming 3/13 as KICC were bowled out for 53 in just 22.4 overs.

Pioneer lie in second place on the table with just two games left to play having won five and lost three out of the eight they have played.
