32 arrrested in Lugazi

The operation in Namengo and Geregere villages, Kitega and kawuku centers, and Najjembe town in Buikwe district was led by the Lugazi Police commander, Samuel Madira.
Lugazi Police have arrested 32 people suspected to be part of the notorious criminal gang.The suspects were allegedly found in possession of khat, opium and others were found in video and cinema halls.
The operation in Namengo and Geregere villages, Kitega and kawuku centers, and Najjembe town in Buikwe district was led by the Lugazi Police commander, Samuel Madira. The operation has been done because the kifesi gang is terrorizing Lugazi and Buikwe district dwellers.
SP Lamek Kigozi, the Ssezibwa regional spokesperson, said the suspects will be screened to establish the criminals for prosecution.
The suspects include one woman and a number of minors who allegedly were found in the cinema halls chewing the khat.
"We have just started the operation and we are going to arrest all the idlers and owners of the video and cinema halls which open in the early morning," he warned.
One of the suspects, eight year old Yusuf Mugaru argued that he was innocent. "I was sent by my parents to go and buy food. I went to say hello to my friends who were chewing the khat and I was also arrested, I don't know why the police has arrested me
