Makerere University students strike over lectures

According to Stanley Oketcho ,a fourth year student doing law the strike is due to students missing lectures for a week after the lectures refused to teach following the scraping of their evening allowances

The students of Makerere University have staged a strike after a period without lectures

The students who were holding empty buckets, jerry cans and brooms moved around the campus.

Some wore the red undergraduate gowns as they moved in a group towards the main gate.

 

According to Stanley Oketcho ,a fourth year student doing law the strike is due to students missing lectures for a week after the lectures refused to teach following the scraping of their evening allowances.

The most affected students are those studying in evening.The Vice Chancellor Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu was holed in a crisis meeting with the ministry of education officials during the strike.

Prof. Ddumba who is supposed to address the 3rd national conference on social, economic and cultural rights at the Campus Main hall failed to show up and delegated his vice chancellor in charge of finance and administration Prof. Edward Kilumira to represent him.
