DP claims the Judicial Service Commission is sometimes influenced by the executive arm of government

Democratic Party (DP) has asked the newly appointed Judicial Service Commission boss, Benjamin Isingoma Kabiito and commissioners to make justice accessible to every Ugandan.

Early this month, President Yoweri Museveni appointed Kabiito the new chairman of the commision.

Museveni also appointed former Uganda Law Society president Ruth Sebatindira, Norah Matovu Winyi, Dr Laban Nnini Kirya, Rose Nyakikongoro, Amongin Aporu and Justin Mugabi as new commissioners.

During a press briefing at the party headquarters in Kampala, DP publicity secretary Kenneth Kakande said the Commission is sometimes influenced by the executive arm of government.

"The commission should refrain from being used by the executive arm of government," said Kakande.

He added that Members of Parliament have not prioritized the electorate's concerns saying that they instead demand for expensive cars and trips among others.

"Our Parliament should focus on the country first not and themselves," said Kakande.
