William Blick presented a report on the Games

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) will not be distracted by the performance of the team in the recently concluded Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro but will instead focus on how to improve the performance.

UOC chief William Blick made the remarks in a press briefing held at UOC offices in Lugogo to present a report on the Games.

"We are happy with the team's performance because all the athletes registered their best performance despite not winning medals. These athletes posted better times than their qualifying times which indicate improvement," Blick stated.

"There is no way you demand better results when the athlete posted better times than his previous time," Blick stressed before adding that he will engage the education and sports minister early enough to see how they plan for Tokyo 2020 Games.

He urged sports federations to start planning earlier enough to avoid late qualifications.

He also clarified that Charles Ssekyaya failed to qualify and that is why he didn't go for the Olympics.

"We funded Ssekyaya to train in the USA but he failed to make the qualifying mark so we had nothing to do," Blick explained.
