Gun registered to UPDF found abandoned in Nwoya hotel

Opit LDU detach was in May this year raided guns were stolen alongside ammunition

Police in Nwoya district has recovered an AK 47 rifle with 20 rounds of ammunitions belonging to the UPDF abandoned in a hotel corridor in Anaka Town Council. 

The gun was recovered by a concerned citizen at Pacific Hotel who informed Police on Saturday.  

The Aswa River Region Police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema said the rifle with registration number UG UPDF 56-56033175 had its butt sawn off.  

Okema said they would verify the registration of the gun to find out if it one of those that was was taken in a raid on Opit LDU detach in May this year.

He said five of the suspects who were arrested in connection with the attack on army installations were residents of Nwoya district.
