The two-time Olympian also plans to make the training an annual event

In a bid to give back to the local community, Uganda's top badminton player Edwin Ekiring has opted to organize a badminton clinic next week.

The week-long clinic from September 5th to 11th at the MTN Arena in Lugogo, is aimed at imparting and improving youngsters' techniques in the game of badminton.

"It's an honour to share my experience from Europe with the children who love the game of badminton," Ekiring said.

"I believe this will improve the game among the youth as they look towards fielding more players at the upcoming Olympic Games" he added.

The two-time Olympian Ekiring made the remarks at the press conference held at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) offices in Kampala on Friday.

He added that he also plans to make the training an annual event as he targets participants from the age of 10-19 years.

UOC president boss William Blick hailed Ekiring for the gesture.

"I want to thank Ekiring for the task he has taken to help the sport improve. We are going to see how we can help him to fund the event" Blick stated.
