18-year-old man arrested for defilement

Mubende Police is holding an 18-year-old man for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The Mubende Police publicist Norbert Ochom identified the suspect as Robert Nabasa a resident of Kawungera Parish, Kiganda sub country in Mubende district.

He is said to have been taken to Police by the girl's uncle only identified as Kyongo who caught him in the act.

"The alleged defilement took place on the night of Monday around 8pm, residents heard a loud scream from the unfinished buildings in town and went to the rescue of the victim. This is when they found Nabasa defiling the young girl and her uncle only identified as Kyongo brought the suspect to Police" Ochom said.

Kyongo said, the loud scream that came from the buildings terrified him and he was shocked to see that it was his niece being defiled. 

"I did not think twice, I just got hold of the man and took him to the Police so that justice prevails" Kyongo said.

In her statement, the victim whose name has been withheld said she was sent by her parents to buy a local brew known as ‘mukomboti' at a nearby bar when she met the defiler in the corridors next to the bar. 

Ochom said Nabasa will be charged with aggravated defilement and he is yet to appear before courts of law. 

He also appealed to parents to stop sending their young children to shops late in the night because they become vulnerable to such occurances.
