Education minister warns teachers against absenteeism

Janet Museveni says most teachers have been dodging school under the guise of poor pay and this has often compelled them to go on strike demanding a pay rise.

Education Minister Janet Museveni has asked teachers to stop the habit of absenteeism from School because this has continued to contribute to the decline of education standards in most primary schools.

Janet Museveni says most teachers have been dodging school under the guise of poor pay and this has often compelled them to go on strike demanding a pay rise.

She adds that since government is working on increasing the salaries of primary teachers by 50% next financial, teachers and head teachers must now play their responsibility of imparting knowledge into the young generation.
