Rt. Rev. Samuel Egesa asked Christians to emulate President Museveni by providing their reverends with cars

The Bishop of Bukedi diocese the Rt. Rev. Samuel Egesa has asked Christians in the area to emulate President Yoweri Museveni by providing their reverends with means transport.

Egesa said, Museveni has been very kind to give every bishop a brand new car that enables them to God's work without difficulty.

"As Bishops we are very grateful to the President for he has made us have no excuses of not moving in our dioceses to do our pastoral work on grounds that we lack means of transport," Egesa said.

Speaking to New Vision on phone, Egesa appealed to Christians to learn from the President's gesture at national level by extending the similar support at local level to facilitate the men of God to execute their duties.

The reverends and priests, the bishop said do a lot of work ranging from presiding over funerals, weddings and baptizing children but transport remains their biggest challenge hindering them from moving from one place to another in time.

Egesa made the remarks in appreciation to Gideon Onyango the Samia Bugwe North Member of Parliament who handed over a new motorcycle to the Reverend of Busitema Parish in Samia Bugwe archdeaconry.

The Bishop thanked Onyango saying despite a court case the MP is still grappling with, he has managed to save nearly sh4m to buy a motorcycle for the church.

He therefore appealed to other Christians who have achieved whatever they have through the grace of God to buy more motorcycles and bicycles or even vehicles to the servants of God.

He however, cautioned the beneficiaries against vandalizing the facilities when being transferred and personalizing the facilities saying they belong to the church.

Reverend Canon Martin Luther Ofwono the archdeacon Samia Bugwe said that much as the donation belonged to the parish the Christians should not bother the reverend whenever they have problems that require the use of a motorcycle.

Onyango promised not to reclaim the motorcycles under all circumstances including even when things go wrong in the next elections.

He said, soon he would unveil his constituency development plan and appealed to all constituents bury their political differences and work collectively for the development of the area.
