We have realized that many of the talented children fail to turn up for our training because their parents cannot afford it

Edgars Youth Programme (EYP) has launched a talent search in schools around Kampala city in a bid to step up the number of their graduates onto national junior teams as well confirm participating in a number of international kids competition.

The football academy run by FUFA chief executive officer Edgar Watson had taken a back bench for close to two years and even closed their training camp at Aga Khan School grounds in Old Kampala until last weekend.

But after securing various kids football training equipment, Watson told journalists at Aga Khan on Saturday that although they will welcome parents who bring their children for training at the academy, they hope to embark on a deliberate recruitment programme around schools.

"We have realized that many of the talented children fail to turn up for our training because their parents cannot afford it. This (recruitment) programme will offer such children the opportunity to be trained," Watson said.

Meanwhile, FUFA is in the process of registering all the football academies in the country afresh. The academies will hold their annual general meeting as part of the process next weekend.
