Ssekandi addresses Ahmadiyya global convention in the UK

He pledged Government commitment to work with the Ahmadiyya Community

Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim community worldwide for their quest for peace, tolerance and love for humanity; values that he said define any religious practice. 

Ssekandi who was addressing the 50 Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association in Guild field Hampshire County in United Kingdom said, he was happy that the Ahmadiyya Muslim mission is aimed at promoting peace and justice globally. 

He observed that the world today is faced with challenges of violence terrorism, radicalism, sectarian, armed conflicts and hatred based prejudices and commended Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Convention which he said provides an opportunity to reflect on global challenges and identify mitigating factors to face the future with renewed hope. 

He said that the need for Peace and Justice transcends religious, ethnic and ideological boundaries and commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for exhibiting tolerance, love and care despite being victims of religious intolerance and persecution in some parts of the World. 

Ssekandi called upon all religious and charity organisations in the world to preserve and protect world peace, by doing more for the less fortunate and the suffering, promote reconciliation and consensus and applauded the Ahmaddiyya community's efforts in pulling resources together to improve the livelihood of the disadvantaged and suffering people.

He said that various parts of the world lack genuine peace, which is a prerequisite for development and transformation adding that Uganda is championing peace in the region because it has learned from her turbulent past the value for peace and security, which he said come with a price and sacrifice. 

He pledged Government commitment to work with the Ahmadiyya Community, who since 1935 has shown commitment to provide safe water, Health and Education services to supplement efforts of the Government in addressing the development challenges facing the population. 

He also observed that the Constitution of the Uganda guarantees the freedom of worship and reiterated Government resolve to continue protecting such freedom assuring the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worldwide that Uganda was safe and urged those interested in investment that Uganda was the best option. 

He also commended the leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat Mira Masroor Ahmed for promoting world peace and called for inter-faith dialogue solidarity of the different religious communities in the world, if Good is to overcome Evil. 

Speaking at the three day event addressed by several others from the UK and other world leaders, Ssekandi said that lack of peace in any part of the world affects others and called upon all peace loving people to work together to support efforts geared at guarding world peace and security for development.
