Police was called to the scene and took the body to Kalisizo Hospital for a postmortem

Police in Rakai district are investigating circumstances under which a Rwandan national died at Kiwaguzi Primary School.

The deceased has been identified as Ariyazari Dirahansi (64), a resident of Nabigasa sub county in Kyotera Constituency. He was found dead in his room.

Dirahansi had worked for the school as a watchman for over 5 years.

The incident occurred on Saturday leaving both pupils and teachers into shock.

It is suspected that Dirahansi died after taking too much potent alcohol (waragi) on Friday night.

Patience Baganzi, the officer in charge of Kyotera Police Station, confirmed the incident.

She explained they were called to the scene and took the body to Kalisizo Hospital for a postmortem.

The report attributed the incident to the deadly effects of excessive alcohol consumption.

It further stated that Dirahansi took the alcohol on empty stomach which was dangerous.

Baganzi explained that Dirahansi was living alone since he hadn't any family members in Uganda at the time he passed-on.

She added that the Kiwaguzi school administration offered to bury him on the school plantation in Nabigasa Sub County.

Baganzi appealed to the public to desist from uncontrolled alcohol consumption to avoid similar incidents.
