All set for Uganda Open as UBL hands over kit

213 players are set to take part in the main amateurs' tournament and the subsidiary event

All is set for the 82nd edition of the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open after Uganda Breweries, the sponsors set the tournament in motion by handing over the sponsorship kit to the Uganda Golf Union.

The kit includes golf apparel, other media, merchandise, and logistical elements for the prize giving dinners among others.

Uganda Golf Union secretary Bernard Mbayo received the kit from Mark Mugisha the head of beers at Uganda Breweries at Kitante on Tuesday.

 "We are ready for the tee off of this year's Tusker Malt Uganda Open. All the players who registered and confirmed attendance will be teeing off as planned. This year, we have players coming in from all over Africa and we believe this is going to be an exciting tournament," Mbayo said.

213 players are set to take part in the main amateurs' tournament and the subsidiary event due at the Kitante Golf Club, August 10-13.

"Last year, was a very successful year in terms of Golf in Uganda. We had our very own winning both the amateurs and the pros tournaments. We believe we can emulate the same this year and have an even bigger success story.

As Tusker Malt Lager, we have been growing our sponsorship over the years and the success we are achieving goes to show that we are on the right track," Mugisha noted.

Tusker Malt Lager increased the cash sponsorship to the Uganda Golf Open from sh200m to sh230m.

An additional sh270m as none cash sponsorship has also been injected into the tournament, taking the total sponsorship kit up to sh500m.
