The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2015 ranked Uganda as the most entrepreneurial nation in the world. But it also says many of these businesses collapse before their second birthdays.

William and Joyce Kikomeko stand out as an exemplary exception to this rule. The couple, which set up its first business, Clinic Equipment Limited in Kitintale, in 1974, have astonishingly withered turbulent political and economic times to do robust business throughout the years without the benefit of a single bank loan or public bailout.

This is especially unique in a time when it has become fashionable for presumably successful entrepreneurs to ask for bail outs from government.

From restaurants in Kampala to setting up the famed KK Beach in Ggaba, the Kikomekos have also set themselves apart as pioneers of improved hotel accommodation on the Ssese Islands archipelago. They own Ssese Islands Beach Hotel, a sh4b facility that sits on 60 hectares of land among other commercial interests on the land.
