Olobo pleaded guilty to the offence and ask for leniency

The High Court sitting in Lira has sentenced a man to 20 years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to aggravated defilement.

Bosco Olobo, 21, on March 31, 2013 at Alyec village, Akaka Parish, Aber Sub County in Oyam district defiled an eight-year-old girl.

Prosecution's case was that the mother of the victim left her with a younger brother sleeping and went to buy paraffin at around 8pm when Olobo forced himself into the house and defiled her.

Olobo pleaded guilty to the offence and ask for leniency.

Justice Rugadya Atwooki sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment.

The victim's mother Christine Akello said the sentence was not commensurate to the offence he committed.

She wanted the judge to give him more years behind bars so that he can reform.
