KCCA counsellor falsified HIV results for just sh5000

Eunice Gloria Lukanza is accused of issuing false results

A prosecution witness has told court that a practicing counsellor of Kisenyi Health Centre IV falsified HIV results of a couple at sh5000.

Robert Kulabako told the City Hall Court presided over by grade one magistrate Beatrice Kayinza that her wife, Elizabeth Tumusiime who is HIV positive bribed Eunice Gloria Lukanza, 25, with sh5000 to forge medical results.

"I went with Tumusiime at Kisenyi Health Centre IV to check for HIV/AIDS, and on receiving the results; it indicated that we were both HIV-negatives. This made me happy and I stopped having protected sex," an anguished Kulabako narrated to court.

Mukanza, a resident of Kitebi in the city suburb of Rubaga is accused of issuing false results to Tumusiime who wanted to deceive her husband, Kulabako that she was HIV negative.

Kulabako testified that on the first day, they had unprotected sex but when he came across receipts, indicating that his wife had been receiving ARVs from Mulago Hospital, he was shocked and demanded Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) Health Center for another check-up.

"I was very angry and I asked my wife to show me. A nurse gave the results to and showed me the accused (Lukanza). Tumusiime further disclosed to me that she connived with the nurse, who turned her positive results to negative," he told court.

It is alleged that on the fateful day of May 31, Kulabako and his wife went to Kisenyi Health Center IV, a KCCA facility for an HIV test.

The test found that Tumusiime was HIV positive, while Kulabako was negative.
