Policeman kills in-law who taunted him over HIV status

Special Police Constable David Ogwal fled and handed himself over to the area Police station

Dokolo Police in Northern Uganda is holding special Police constable, David Ogwal, over murder.

Ogwal shot dead his in-law, Jasper Otim, who allegedly hurled insults at him (Ogwal) calling him 'a moving dead man' since his sister had infected him with HIV.

"The armed Ogwal got annoyed by the insults and turned his gun and shot Otim injuring him on the left leg," Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said.

Enanga said scene of crime officers rushed the victim to Lira Hospital where he died shortly after admission due to over bleeding and investigations are on-going.

The incident happened at Gomi trading center in Abeli village in Lira district where a team of three police personnel attached to Agali Police post, acting on information rushed to rescue a bodaboda operator who was being beaten by people he was drinking with over the weekend.

According to Enanga, after shooting, Ogwal fled with his gun to Dokolo district and handed himself over to the area Police station.
