The workers are protesting government’s refusal to raise their salaries and non-payment of their arrears.

A sit-down strike by  non-teaching staff at public universities has paralyzed work at Makerere University.The strike began began this morning.

The workers are protesting government's refusal to raise their salaries and non-payment of their arrears.

The development has affected students seeking to join the university. Many failed to access the senate building to pick their admission letters.

The assistant administator at the college of Agriculture, Egessa Obuli says government has to honour its pledge before the college reopens.
